The app is designed primarily for use by children at The Loddon School, where we operate a picture exchange “Cafe” on a twice daily basis. It fulfils three functions:
1. Access to ICT for the children
2. Replaces the physical picture exchange system
3. Gives the child a voice (given most of our children do not use any speech to communicate)
The Loddon School is also developing communication apps, transitioning apps (jigs) and bespoke applications for individual personalised learning.
This app is currently standalone, but will be included in a larger multiple app project in the near future.
Why “Nooddl” ? Well obviously it is an anagram of Loddon, and sounds like a bowl of many tangled intertwined strands of goodness, but it can be a verb too: “off for a bit of Nooddling”.
